This is a senior leadership role that oversees the entire Engineering function for the Group, and is responsible for developing and implementing an Engineering framework across all of our properties. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role leads a dispersed Engineering team of ~x Engineering employees.
This role will create and implement an Engineering framework, that ensures consistent adherence to regulation, legislation and property maintenance best practice across all properties.
The Group Chief Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests and team members, ensuring all activities are delivered safely and compliantly.
This role will ensure optimal physical operation of each property through management and development of the engineering team and ensuring that they are accountable for providing quality delivery of work.
The Group Chief Engineer will be a key adviser and contributor to large scale development projects.
The role will deliver cost efficiencies and cost reduction through the strategic management of contracts and vendors.
Comprehensive maintenance program in place for all properties that provides the best solution for each asset and allows sharing of resources.
An overarching and consistent standard to Fire, Life and Safety practices across all properties to ensure the safety of our guests and employees.
Negotiated group supply agreements and opportunities to leverage our purchasing scale to reduce costs.
Oversight to vendor relationships ensuring performance milestones are met and contracts are managed efficiently.
Ability to leverage a large workforce and promote teamwork in a way that minimizes down time and impact to our operations. and maximizes efficiency.
Trusted and informed Engineering advice provided to the Senior leadership team to support business decisions, including future development opportunities.
Single expert escalation process and point for all maintenance, building, property issues and concerns.
Strategic view of ‘green initiatives’ and waste minimization plans across the group.
- 10+ years’ experience in a Chief Engineer role within a hotel
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Extensive knowledge of and experience working with Fire, Life Safety legislation
- Experience in leading and motivating a large, dispersed Engineering and Maintenance team
- Ability to coach and mentor across all levels of the business
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
- Commercially minded, business savvy leader who has an interest in working with the senior leadership team to identify and explore further development opportunities
